Gettysburg Fire Department Hot Shots

GFD was dispatched to a working structure fire at this structure which was an antique store. Upon arrival, the first floor was heavily involved with fire. As quick as firefighters extinguished the fire on the first floor, the fire had extended through the walls into the second floor and attic space of the building. A crew was sent to the roof to perform ventilation operations while firefighters were evacuated from the second floor due to flashover conditions developing.

After roof ventilation was performed, firefighters were able to make an attack on the fire in the second floor and attic areas, and the fire was brought under control. Tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene. Companies 4, 10, 13, 17, 20 and 25 assisted with the call. Fire crews remained on the scene until 00:25 hrs.
