[Hot Shots]

Structure Fire

Box 1-1 - 1885 Baltimore Pike

06/29/99 at 06:48 hrs.

[Hot Shot Photo 1] In this photo, heat and smoke continue to be released through the initial vent hole as firefighters Steve Carbaugh and Travis Parr retreat from the tip of Quint 1. With Truck 1 is now in position to cut a secondary vent hole, Littlestown firefighter Steve Laughman along with Gettysburg firefighter John Snyder position themselves at the tip of Truck 1.

[Hot Shot Photo 2] The secondary vent hole is started to be cut as Quint 1's ladder is moved away from the primary vent hole.

[Hot Shot Photo 3] In this photo, the heat and smoke continue to build in the attic area as secondary vent hole is being cut. The interior crew still attempts to gain access to the second floor and attic area as the stairways are burned through by fire.

[Hot Shot Photo 4] In this photo, Barlow Engine 22-1 can be seen supplying water to Quint 1. Also, the smoke conditions continue to grow in the attic area as the secondary vent hole operation is still underway.

[Hot Shot Photo 5] As the secondary vent hole is completed, conditions continue to worsen in the attic area as crews cannot make access to the attic from the interior.
