The structure, in the 400 block of Table Rock Road, was donated by the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Firefighters completed a long day of training, led by instructors from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy. This was the first live structure burn in the Gettysburg area in more than 12 years, and was an invaluable training exercise for all involved. Firefighters and instructors burned the home in stages, taking time between each evolution to discuss tactics, evaluate their skills, and hone their attack.
Gettysburg, as well as all of the communities with participating firefighters, will be better protected thanks to the kind donation from St. Francis Xavier and the dedication of our volunteer firefighters.
