Personnel opened up and the fire was soon declared under control.
Personnel from Rescue 13 were reassigned to assist Gettysburg firefighters with overhaul, and units cleared at approximately 2200 hours. The Gettysburg Police Department Fire Marshall is investigating the incident.

Above photo courtesy Wgal News 8
The quint was initially placed on side "D" or the structure, which was a feed mill, so that Gettysburg volunteers could make access to one of the many roofs of the building while engine companies attempted to attack the fire. Crews went to the roof with multiple saws and began cutting into the metal wall of an adjacent part of the structure to ventilate. Once through the outside covering of the building, it was found that a poured concrete wall several inches thick remained. As crews began to assess this problem the building was ordered evacuated due to an imminent collapse hazard on side "C". After retreating from the roof, the quint repositioned from side "D" to side "A" to remove itself from the collapse zone as firefighting efforts went defensive. Once respositioned, a water supply was provided by Engine 7-2 (Bendersville) and the ladder pipe was put into service.

In the above photo, crews cut a hole in the end of a box trailer sitting near the building that began to catch fire. Once the hold was cut a portable monitor was able to access the fire and extinguished the trailer within a few minutes.
