On Sunday, August 15, 2021, the Gettysburg Fire Department hosted a live structure burn on Old Mill Road, Cumberland Twp. which was the conclusion of a 16 hour Structure Burn Class that was held over the last 2 weeks to include classroom training. The acquired structure was donated to the GFD by the homeowners for training use prior to it being demolished. This donation allowed not just the GFD but other local FD's the opportunity to train and practice in a more realistic setting. The day was filled with controlled fire evolutions throughout the home to simulate real world fire conditions. At the end of the day and after all evolutions were complete, the home was left to become fully engulfed and burn to the ground in order for the demolition crews to continue their work in the following week. The GFD would like to Thank everyone who participated in the class to include Sunday's Fire Service Instructors, Cumberland Twp., the homeowners, local residents, AREMS & all persons who donated or acquired the supplies needed for the day.

Lastly, Thank you to Harrison Jones & Travis Neil for the photos that were taken during the day and for the use of the pictures. See the below links for additional photos.
