Appliance Fire in Box 1-7 @ CHMHP

Gettysburg Fire Department along with Mutual Aid companies were dispatched to the location for a report of smoke coming from a trailer. Adam’s County 911 advised caller reported smoke coming from the trailer with an audible smoke alarm sounding. Fire Policeman AOS and confirmed same. Chief 1 requested WFD at that time. Engine 14 and Tanker 25 arrived and reported smoke coming from the trailer, no visible fire at this time. Crews forced entry into the trailer to find heavy smoke conditions. Assistant Chief 14 assumed command until the arrival of Chief 1. Upon arrival of Chief 1, Assistant 14 was assigned operations. Crews stretched a 1 3/4” line inside and found a small fire on top of the stove with minor extension. Tower 5/Engine 1-2 crews arrived and assisted with ventilation and utilities. Engine 7-2 established RIT.

All occupants confirmed out of the residence and not home at the time of the fire.

Crews located several cats and a small dog which were all safely evacuated. Several cats escaped prior to or during operations.
Fire placed under control at 22:47 and units were released as they became available.

American Red Cross was called to assist to 2 adult occupants.

Cause: Accidental/Not Suspicious
No injuries to Civilians or Fire Department personnel.
