At 11:41 hours the pre-alert was sounded for the kitchen fire on Confederate Dr. just off Woodcrest Dr. in (Box 1-3-30). Deputy Chief 1 (Mizenko) & Rescue 1 arrived on scene of a 1.5 story SFD with smoke showing from Side Alpha and the residents and nearby neighbors reporting a fire in the kitchen. DC-1 established Confederate Drive Command and reported that the fire was knocked down with a garden hose, (green line), by a neighbor from the exterior as E1-1 arrived on scene. E1-1 stretched a line to the dwelling and wet down the remaining hot spots along with opening up the area around the stove where some minor extension was found. Tower 5 (Arendtsville) & E22 (Barlow) assisted with overhaul and ventilation with the remainder of the Box Alarm placed in service by Command. Upon completion of investigation it was found that the occupant was in the process of making lunch when the grease ignited in the pan and ignited nearby combustibles. All occupants made it out safely and no injuries reported.
