On Sunday July 12th, as the Unofficial Bike Weekend was winding down, Company 1 members took in a few runs to round out the weekend. At 0920 an automatic fire alarm was received for 2715 York Rd bringing E1-1 & Truck 1 to the scene where a faulty smoke detector was found to be the source of the alarm, a little over an hour later @ 1057 hrs our 2nd fire alarm for the day was received for the Holiday Inn (516 Baltimore Street) where another faulty detector was located.

As personnel were just returning from the fire alarm at the Holiday Inn, Box 1-8 was sounded for the motor vehicle collision on US Route 15 South @ the 10.4 MM. Asst Chief 1 (Temarantz) arrived to find a single vehicle that had left the roadway, through and over the guardrail and down an embankment approximately 30 yds. Both occupants were self extricated prior to FD arrival and being assisted by passing motorists, luckily neither patient suffered any injuries. Rescue 1 personnel checked for hazards and provided traffic control until the arrival of Fire Police. Units operated for just over 30 minutes, while Fire Police from Co.'s 1 , 22 & 33 remained on the scene to assist PSP & the Towing Co. with traffic control during the removal of the vehicle.

Once again @ 1447 hours, Co.1 & AREMS were alerted for the 2nd motor vehicle collision of the day @ Shealer Rd & Old Harrisburg Rd. Rescue 1 with the Lieutenant (Kime) arrived on scene of single vehicle into a utility pole and 2 occupants with minor injuries, no entrapment or confinement. Personnel assisted EMS and secured vehicle hazards.
