Log Truck Rollover
By Assistant Chief Joe Temarantz
July 20, 2020

Just after mid-day on Monday July 20th , Engine 1-1 and Service 1 were operating on a small Brush Fire on York Road (Rt.30) @ the NB ramp to Route 15 when a motorist alerted Co.1 personnel to a Tractor Trailer rollover at the bottom of the ramp from Rt15 NB to the Route 30 E/W ramp. Asst Chief 1 (Temarantz) proceeded on foot to the location to investigate and upon arrival found a Log Truck rolled over on its drivers side with its load of logs spilled across both ramps. Asst Chief Temarantz notified Communications and requested the MVC assignment along with several mutual aid Fire Police to assist in closing the ramp down in all directions. Upon further assessment of the scene, the driver was found to be self extricated with minor injuries and no other patients. Engine 1-1 & Service 1 personnel mitigated all fluid hazards that had leaked from the vehicle while MICU 54-4 handled patient care and transport. Both entrance and exit ramps remained closed for several hours while the scene was cleared of the logs and overturned Truck.

Thank you to all Fire Police personnel who remained on scene to assist the Tow Company (Lady & Taylor) and PSP in the extreme heat conditions.
