It was a busy Sunday into Monday for our Volunteers with our 3rd Box Alarm being sounded at 0245 this morning for smoke in the apartment at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home on Old Harrisburg Rd. DC 1 (Mizenko) AOS and found a light smoke condition inside the apartment with a strong electrical odor. Engine 1-2 AOS and investigated, found a thermostat on the wall that shorted out with breakers tripped and the remainder of the box staging in line of approach. Command held Engine 1-2 and Truck 1. Crews secured power and ventilated the apartment. The apartment was left with the Director of Building and Grounds.
No injuries reported. Starting at around 1100 hours with the building fire in the 7 box and finishing out around 0700 Monday morning with a Medical Assist , the GFD Volunteers handled 6 runs with an average of 10-12 members a call all while other personnel attended and ran our Fire Prevention Open House and Public Safety Demo and the Adams County Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. Thank you to all our members for the hard work with all events and incidents.
