Route 15 & 97 Auto Accident with Fire

At 1419 hours Engine 1-1 was alerted into Box 22-3 for a MVC w/injuries on US Route 15 SB @ the Route 97 (Baltimore Pike) overpass. Chief 22 (Hubbard), arrived on scene just after dispatch and requested Rescue 1 to be added to the assignment and also noted that this was on the Box line between 22-3 (Barlow) and 1-1 (Gettysburg). Chief 22 established Command along with now advising that the vehicle was well involved in fire and requested an additional EMS unit to the scene along with additional Fire Police. All occupants were self extricated upon the arrival of FD personnel and were transported by AREMS to a trauma facility with non-life threatening injuries.
Rescue 1 arrived on scene followed by Rescue 22 and deployed the Tri-Max foam system and began to extinguish the fire. Crews were able to darken down the fire relatively quickly with the system but due to the burning magnesium additional water & foam was needed at which time R22 was deploying a backup line for R1 personnel and assisted with final extinguishment. Crews operated for approximately 45 min. with Fire Police from Co.'s 1, 22 and 33 remaining on scene additional time to assist with traffic control by detouring traffic around the scene. The incident was confirmed to be located within Box 1-1 boundaries.
