Around 0945 hours on the 1st day of May, Companies 1, 4, 5 , 6, 7 & AREMS were dispatched to 211 Pegram Street for a fire under the mobile home. Asst Chief 1 arrived on the scene of a single wide mobile home with nothing evident from the exterior and was met by the homeowner, who directed personnel to Side Charlie of the structure where fire was showing from underneath the skirting. E4-1 w/Lt. 4 (S.Bowling) was the 1st arriving unit and assigned Fire Attack , pulled a 200ft 1 3/4" line to Side C for extinquishment, 2nd arriving E1-2 w/Captain 1 (McGonigal) pulled a back up line to the interior to check for extension while Tower 5 assisted E4-1 with opening up the skirting around the fire area. The fire was knocked down in less than 2 mins and contained to the area of origin. Upon investigation, it was found that a wire used for the water meter had shorted , tripped the breaker and ignited. The burning wire ignited surrounding piping insulation and a plastic water shut off valve along with some additional HVAC insulation used for the AC unit. Units operated for approximately 25 mins.
