|Daytime Working House Fire in Box 1-1|

Companies 1, 22, 33-3, 20, 7 , Frederick Co.6, AREMS alerted for smoke coming from the house @ 875 Taneytown Road, Cumberland Twp. Asst. Chief 1 (McGonigal) arrived on scene of a 2 story single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing from Side A , working fire assignment requested and Command established until the arrival of Chief 1 (Mizenko) . E1-2 arrived 1st due with a crew of 4 , stretched on the dwelling and made an aggressive interior attack, holding the fire to the room of origin on Side A. Heavy smoke and heat was throughout the home and as additional companies arrived on scene they began ventilation, laddering of the home and overhaul. During fire attack , the nozzleman (Deputy Chief Temarantz), had his foot fall through a part of the floor that was found to have burned away , however was able to be safely removed without injury or the need for a Mayday. Crews continued to operate on the scene opening up the remainder of the home and checking for extension. During the overhaul, companies found that the floor in the fire room had burned through in a larger area than originally located by DC Temarantz and was able to be cordoned off to prevent further falls or injury. The fire remains under investigation and will be further investigated by the PSP Fire Marshall. The 2 displaced residents will be assisted by Red Cross and staying with family. Units operated for approximately 2.5 hours.
